Amazing find. It is tall and solid. Don't let the cracks fool you. The lady that we received it from, said that the cracks have been there as long as she could remember. It most likely had a base at some point. But he stands just fine in a corner as well.
The story behind this amazing carving.. We bought this from an older lady who said it belonged to her late father who was a Doctor for Doctors Without Borders. Sometime after he was released from serving in the Korean War he became a missionary. She believed it was in the late 1950's to early 1960's. Along his travels, he ended up in Panama and was given the carving as a gift from a local family. She said that out of all of his amazing finds during this time, this was his most prized possession. She had moved into a tiny home and was downsizing tremendously. We believe that it would make an amazing addition to any collection or decor.
