    Description

The HDHomeRun EXTEND is a network-attached TV tuner. It has two tuners for watching or recording two over-the-air (ATSC 1.0) HDTV programs simultaneously. Instead of connecting to a TV or computer, this device is connected to your home network via ethernet. You can then use many smart TVs, streaming boxes, computers, smartphones, and tablets to watch TV anywhere on your network, wired or wirelessly. If you add a storage device and subscription, you can use HDHomeRun DVR to record and play back TV shows. Visit https://www.silicondust.com/ to learn more about this product.
This is an older, discontinued model that is capable of transcoding. Transcoding converts the video stream to a smaller, more compressed format that is more easily streamed by some devices and takes up less storage space when recorded. Via a simple web interface, you can change the transcoding profile to choose between higher quality or smaller bandwidth.
The shipment will include only the HDHomeRun device itself and the original power adapter. You must use your own ethernet cable and TV antenna.
    Note:
This model of HDHomeRun is fan-cooled. If you place the device in the same room that you will be watching TV, you may find the fan noise bothersome as it does have a mild rattle to it. This is a common issue with the EXTEND model, and SiliconDust even offered a fanless case replacement service for a fee, but that has been "out of stock" for many months now. The noise is noticeable but not exceptionally loud, TV at a normal volume will overpower it. If you have a room with ethernet and antenna access where the noise will not be an issue, I recommend placing the device there. You can then use the device from anywhere else in your home where you have wired or wireless network access.
