These molas are
hand-stitched
and measure about 11" x 15" each.
Mola blouses are the daily wear of the Kuna women in Panama. These Kuna women are easy to spot all over Panama City. They wear a distinctive skirt and headdress as well, along with beaded bracelets and anklets. They are the wonderful artists that bring mola to life.
I feel sure there is a reason for the number 85 but I don't know what it is. the butterflies catch my attention. Perhaps the blouse is from 1985.
