Beautiful mola from Panama, exceptional workmanship, reverse appliqué, vivid colors. Depicts the mythical griffen. Measures approx. 19" x 17". Comes with custom made mat and backing for framing. NOTE: Postage will be greatly reduced if you do not want the mat. Molas are part of the cultural tradition of the native Kuna women of Panama. Molas are handmade using a reverse appliqué technique. Several layers of different-colored cloth are sewn together; the design is then formed by cutting away parts of each layer. The edges of the layers are then turned under and sewn down.
