Vintage Fly Rod Lure Fishing Fly Tackle Lure Hand Tied Blue Ridge Mountains NC.
I am not a fly fisherman. I am unable to identify the type of fly listed. It was acquired from an estate sale in the mountains of North Carolina by an avid fly fisherman who stated he had tied the fly/flies (I purchased in a lot) in the mid to late 90s. The estate owner is 76 years old. He had several thousand of his own hand tied flies. It was remarkable to see. I was only able to acquire a small number of them.
I fish freshwater ponds & streams in the flatlands of South Carolina for bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, etc., but I have never learned the fly fishing skill. In my estimate, fly fishing is an art & the folks who have the knowledge & skill to learn & be successful at it are 2nd to none when it comes to fishing. If you’re one of these fine folks, then maybe this is a lure you can appreciate and/or use to catch a beautiful fish in the waters where you live. Maybe you know someone who truly enjoys God’s great outdoors & loves the sport of fishing.
If this was a machine made lure, well, I doubt I’d have much interest. However, the meticulous nature of tying these flies is amazing to me. I hope another person can give it a good home or maybe a good stream to live out it’s days. I think (in principle) that’s what our country was built on. Appreciation for what a humble man can craft with the help of the Good Lord & his own two hands.
