Vintage Wounaan Indian Rainforest Basket Tightly Woven from Panama

This is a vintage Wounaan Indian Basket from Panama.  It was purchased at the Gilcrease Museum of Indian and American West Art in Tulsa, OK. about 20 years ago.  They still sell this type of basket in the gift shop.  It is very tightly woven with a silk feel to it.  It has a Rainforest design with Toucans and butterflies along with foliage.   This basket is all in natural colors of browns and gray.  It must have taken a great deal of time to make something this tightly woven as this.   It measures:  6.25" tall, 5.5" in diameter at top opening and the bottom circular area prior to the start of the motif is 4" in diameter.  It is a remarkable piece.
